Pho Cha

tibetan: བོད་ཇ་

Tibetan butter tea made from black tea, milk, (yak) butter and salt

For Tibetans, tea is the most spiritual of all drinks.

The butter tea is also used to make tsampa, a staple of roasted and ground barley.

The tea is then combined with salt and butter in a special stirring drum (Tibetan: མདོང་ མོ་) and shaken vigorously before serving.  Now an electric mixer is often used.
